ASSIGNMENT 10-1 : Amelia Earhart Biography
Amelia Earhart was a famous aviator. In 1897, she was born in Atchison, Kansas. In 1922, she received her pilot's license. Seven years later, she helped found the "Ninety-Nines,"an international organization of women pliots that still exists. In 1931, Amelia Earhart married publisher George Putnam, who helped Amelia in her job as a pilot. The next year, she became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic alone; received honors from French and American governments. A few years later, she flew alone from Hawaii to California. Two years later, she tried to fly the world but mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean.
